Figured it was an appropriate time of year to remind everyone of my favorite, somewhat underrated, song from the OTGW soundtrack. I love the harmonies!

From flesh removed our chalk footfall
tempers this holy ground
Where timeless spirits meet
Round the heart of Pottsfield town

O Hi thee forth o’er golden mead
yon is the maypole set
A ribbon to wind thy soul
And to bind love to thy breast

OOOOOOH HI THEE FORTH it’s time again boys

The Ferguson Rifle

I thought I’d share some of the stills I took of the Durs Egg-made Ferguson Rifle I recently got to examine. I always try and get good still photos when I examine something and many of these turned out pretty well. We can see the threads cut into the breech plug and the breech, we can also just see into the chamber itself too. The photos also show the lock and barrel markings, including Durs Egg’s commercial barrel engraving. The rifle also had an interesting brass rear sight located just behind the breech.

Here’s the TAB video I put together on the Ferguson, I discuss the origins of the design, how Ferguson developed it, how it worked and how it was used. I also try to answer the question of ‘how good actually was the Ferguson?’:

It was a real dream to get to handle an authentic Ferguson so this was a special one to put together. I wrote a pretty in-depth article giving even more detail than I could cram into the video, you can check that out here
